Cotton Mather, pastor

A bit of Cotton Mather ephemera, from the Congregational Library & Archives, in Boston:

This note records eight weddings preformed by Mather in 1717. It’s an interesting bit of archival material, if for no other reason than that it reminds one of Mather’s pastoral work. As much as he was engaged in Bible commentary and theological endeavors, he also attended to the day-to-day religious life of his congregation, including performing marriages like these.

The library also has made about 100 pages of high-resolution scans of Mather’s diary from 1916-1917 available online here.
